Take a relaxing walking tour through the Mississippi Petrified Forest on a shady paved trail among the ancient trees. You'll enjoy the many points of interest along the self-guided 6 block nature trail.

At the end of the nature trail you'll enter our earth science museum where you can browse among an outstanding collection of fossils, petrified wood and minerals from around the world. School Groups

The Mississippi Petrified Forest has long been a fun field trip destination! Be sure to let your students enjoy our "Gem Flume" activity where they can wash a bag of "mine muck" loaded with gemstones to keep. The cost for this activity is $4.28 w/tax per person. (Public schools will pay no tax on this if the activity is paid for as part of the field trip. Please reserve flume bags when you call in your reservation.)

It's a great idea to bring your own picnic lunches to enjoy in the park! With plenty of room for group activity and play, feel free to extend the length of your field trip with activities in our park after your visit.

Our large parking area can accommodate many buses. We ask that buses unload the students at the sidewalk in front of the Visitor Center and then be moved to the parking area. Only the person responsible for the group should enter the building at this time to check-in. Students will then be led through the Visitor Center through the trail entrance door.

Admission is $5.00 each for students and chaperones - groups of 15 or more.
